Google Guardian Online Learning Academy

Hello all!

I wanted to fill you in on the Google Certified Innovator project that I am working on in hopes that you will help spread the word to our parents and guardians.

👉What/When: August 16-20, I am hosting a Google Guardians Online Learning Academy. This is a week-long virtual learning opportunity for parents and guardians of Google-using students. Sessions start at 5:00 pm CST and end at 8:00. Sessions are given live so that anyone who has questions can get answers, but they will also be recorded for those who can't attend at that time. We have the Google Classroom session being offered in Spanish and Mandarin (as well as English). I am in the process of adding more time slots for more presenters, so keep checking back to see what additional offerings we will have. 👉Registration: It is free and there is no registration required; however, there is a link at the top asking for parents to let us know where they are from. This form does ask for school district and school initials for all Louisiana public school attendees- in order to help schools attain PIMSPOINTS (if the state moves in this direction). Encourage your parents to fill out this form. If you want this information after the fact, just shoot me an e-mail and let me know.

👉Presenters: We have several volunteer presenters from Livingston Parish Public Schools and from around the state of Louisiana! Check out the presenter list to see if someone from your school is being featured and offer them congratulations and support. They are volunteering their time to help parents and guardians around the state WORLD (this academy has been picked up by the Global Google Educator network and will be streamed internationally). Give them a shout-out on social media and via e-mail as it gets closer and post a link to their presentation; all links are on the Schedule page of the website.

👉Social Media/Email: There is this page on the Google Guardian website for schools/districts with graphics and pre-written social media texts so it can be copy and pasted for easy use as well as badges that say "join me" for parents/guardians/teachers to share out. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are in need of different materials or if you have a suggestion.
